It is the water that connects the people of the Pacific. We should not be defined by the smallness of our islands, but in the greatness of our oceans. We are the sea, we are the ocean, Oceania is us. – Professor Epeli Hau’ofa

The Tuia Mātauranga exhibition will be on display at the museum over nine days. Drop in any time between 28 September and 6 October and discover what has helped shape our nation – from our early navigators, settlements and first encounters through to Aotearoa today and our collective aspirations for the future.

Over the two weekends, join the kōrero as we are joined by our two storytellers bringing to life the extraordinary voyaging traditions and cultures of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa The Pacific Ocean. Bookings are recommended for these sessions.
