The Museum's replica cannon is fired each day at 12pm in the marina.

In keeping with sailors timekeeping tradition, the initial purpose of the noon gun was to allow ships in the port to check the accuracy of their marine chronometers (a precision instrument used aboard ships to help calculate longitude).
