Bean Rock Lighthouse is the oldest wooden lighthouse in New Zealand and is the last cottage-style lighthouse still standing in New Zealand today. Located in the Waitematā Harbour between Mission Bay and Rangitoto Island, it was first lit on July 24th, 1871 and was managed by lighthouse keepers until 1912. It now runs on solar power.
