Join the Classic Yacht Charitable Trust (CYCT) and the New Zealand Maritime Museum as we celebrate the relaunch of the newly-refurbished farm-to-market trader, Frances.

A short "reveal" presentation, hosted by the CYCT, will take place at 11am. Afterwards, guests are invited to step down onto the pontoon and visit Frances, along with fellow heritage yachts Ida, Ethel, Gloriana and Waitangi.

About Frances

The classic yacht, Frances, was designed by Arch Logan and built by Logan Brothers in 1906 at St Mary's Bay. It was designed as a snapper fishing boat with a broad beam and open hold for that purpose. For the first two years it was owned by an Auckland storekeeper and sold to Robert Shakespear of Whangaparāoa in 1908 who used it as a 'farm to market' transporter.

About the Classic Yacht Charitable Trust

The Classic Yacht Charitable Trust was formed in 2002, when it became apparent that the historic keystone classic yacht Waitangi, then based in Melbourne, could be lost to not only New Zealand but the Southern Hemisphere, when it was put up for international tender. However, quick and decisive action by the trust secured the yacht for the Hauraki Gulf and the people of New Zealand’s future enjoyment.
