SS Puke Steaming Trip

The museum's steam tug SS Puke was built by E. Thompson and Son at Aratapu, towards the end of the 19th century. Carrying just four passengers at a time, SS Puke steaming trips head out from the museum on Saturdays and last 15 - 20 minutes each.

SS Puke trips depart on the hour and half hour from 11am until 3pm (2.30pm is the last departure). You can climb on board every Saturday and the first Sunday of every month.

SS Puke is currently out of service, but will be back up and running by summer.

All SS Puke sailings are subject to suitable weather conditions and if in doubt, please contact 09 373 0800 on the day.

All passengers must wear life-jackets, which will be supplied by the museum. We supply life jackets for children from 10kg up to the age of 14 years. Children under 10kg cannot join a Puke trip.

Puke sailings are priced at just one gold coin donation per person.

Our staff are passionate about making the Museum accessible for all people.
