Immigration Voyages

The Bill Laxon Maritime Library may be able to help you find out more about an ancestor's immigration voyage or the vessel that they travelled on. The library has histories of the major New Zealand shipping companies, as well as reference works such as the Comber Index (1839-1889).

While the Library does not hold detailed information about every immigration voyage, additional resources may include:

• Photographs of some passenger ships
• Selected ephemera such as deck plans, accommodation plans or passenger lists
• A small number of shipboard diaries and logs.

If you would like to request research within the library's collections, please complete a research enquiry form and we'll be in contact with you within three working days.

Research fees apply.
