A learning experience with Voyager is unlike any other. The combination of our world-class exhibition galleries, working heritage vessel fleet, strong links to other maritime providers, and non-traditional approach to museum education makes the Voyager experience impossible to replicate.

How Voyager can help

Our Education team will work with you to bring the curriculum alive in a way that not only meets your educational objectives, but is also relevant to the students’ contemporary perspectives. Maritime heritage and education that’s engaging, thought-provoking, and inspirational.

Voyager holds a current LEOTC contract with the Ministry of Education. We recommend consulting the TKI website for the best practice approach for planning your visit to the museum.
When you’re ready to make a booking at Voyager, we can offer teachers assistance in the following ways:

  • Free entry to teachers for planning prior to the trip
  • Professional assistance from our Education team in planning your programme
  • Suggesting one of our existing programmes or creating a tailored programme specific to your group’s learning needs

Involve us early for the best results

To get the most from a visit to Voyager, we recommend teachers contact the Education team as early as possible in the planning process. As registered teachers, the Education team can assist in developing Voyager's role within the overall topic being studied, and spending time with you to develop your study unit. If you already have a study unit, consider which of our education programmes will fit with your learning needs.

Programme costs
Students are charged on a per head basis. A limited number of adult supervisors can accompany the group for free. Groups are then invoiced after each visit.

2010 education charges

Student safety
The safety of our visitors is a non-negotiable aspect of the Voyager experience. If you are required to complete a Risk Management Assessment for your group’s visit, the RMA Guidelines will provide some assistance.
