One hour heritage sailing trips on Ted Ashby head out twice a day, six days a week, so there is plenty of opportunity to climb on board.
Exhibitions, events, kids’ activities and more - see what’s coming up.
SS Puke is unavailable for steamings during October and November due to maintenance and her participation in outreach programmes.
The museum's steam tug SS Puke was built by E. Thompson and Son at Aratapu, towards the end of the 19th century. Carrying just four passengers at a time, SS Puke steaming trips head out from the museum every second Sunday of the month for between 15 and 20 minutes.
This special little boat is the perfect trip for families and those looking for a taste of the harbour.
SS Puke trips depart between 11am until 2pm and are available for a gold coin donation.
All SS Puke sailings are subject to suitable weather conditions and if in doubt, please contact 09 373 0800 on the day.
* All passengers must wear life-jackets, which will be supplied by the museum. We supply life jackets for children from 10kg up to the age of 14 years. Children under 10kg cannot join a Puke trip.
All Puke Steaming Trips include museum entry.
Our staff are passionate about making the museum accessible for all people.
