Maritime Crew Sea Shanty Performances

The Maritime Crew specialise in performing sea songs for entertainment. These include traditional shanties (the working songs from the days of tall ships) and both traditional and contemporary songs of the sea. Many of our songs have a New Zealand flavour and include songs written by past and present members of the Crew.

Our performances are a mix of a cappella harmony singing and songs with instrumental accompaniment (guitar, mandolin, egg, harmonica, banjo and whistles). Our audiences enjoy joining us in the choruses, listening to the stories in the songs and smiling at the irreverence of the sailor's attitude to life.

The Maritime Crew are - back row: John McGowan, Warren Payne, Bob Large; front row: Lew Black, Paul Howarth.

The Maritime Crew usually perform on the first Sunday of every month at 1pm.
